The Court Cards

There are 16 Court Cards in a traditional deck. In most decks they consist of a Page, a Knight, a Queen and a King. The Court Cards represent an aspect of yourself, people in your life or a role you are or should be playing.

The Pages 

  • A Page can represent a youthful person of either sex
  • They can deliver a message
    In the days of Kings and Queens, Pages delivered messages

  • A Queen represents the female energy of her suit

her and she is loyal and protective. 

Reversed: She is hot tempered, disorganized, vengeful, and impatient.

Upright: The Queen of Pentacles is charitable, generous, easy going, intelligent, responsible, educated and prosperous. She loves nature and is most likely educated. She is a good mother and most likely works outside the home.
Reversed: She can be overly miserly, jealous, self-indulgent, a task master, practical to the point of being boring.

The Kings

  • A King represents the male energy of his suit

Upright: The King of Wands is passionate, confident, ambitious, athletic, a leader and often an entrepreneur. He is a powerhouse of energy. This king makes a great husband and father. 
Reversed: He gets bored easily and is controlling, bad tempered, physically abusive and has an inflated ego.

respected and cultured. He is a kind and loving husband and father. He always speaks to you from his heart and has a gentle power. He is a humanitarian and loves to work with people.
Reversed: He lacks drive and backbone, is over sensitive, avoids conflict and may drink to much.

Upright: The Kind of Swords is brilliant, confident, and articulate. He is very well educated, understands the human mind and deals well with logic and reason. He gives sound advice and strives for fairness. He is an strong authority figure. 
Reversed: He can be abusive verbally, cruel. cold, impersonal, non-emotional, and lacks sensitivity.

Upright: The King of Pentacles is prosperous, dependable, unwavering and patient. He is generous but not wasteful with his time or money. As a husband and father he is very reliable and slow to anger. His main focus is on the financial security of his family.
Reversed: He is stubborn, overly materialistic and miserly.
